SEEKING WITNESSES: Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Covington

Colburn Law is seeking information from witnesses about a Halloween night collision that resulted in a pedestrian being airlifted to Harborview Medical Center with life threatening injuries.
The collision occurred around 12:30 a.m., Friday, November 1, 2019, in Covington. A black Subaru was traveling northbound on 164th Avenue Southeast toward Southeast 264th Street. The Subaru struck a 54-year old male and, without stopping, continued northbound. The Subaru crashed into an unoccupied construction excavator.
The 25-year old driver, identified as Byron Gomez Mella, was later arrested by King County Sheriff’s Deputies and booked into King County Jail on investigation of Vehicular Assault and Driving Under the Influence.
The pedestrian suffered significant head injuries and internal injuries. He has undergone multiple surgeries. In addition, the pedestrian’s left leg has been amputated.
We are seeking witnesses with any information about the collision or the events leading up to the collision, including information about the whereabouts and activities of the defendant driver on Halloween night.
